Revisiting our tree farms in Dangi and Alvenda

Let's take a look now on the two tree farms we developed years ago and how they have grown. Rolando Soliva, the owner of Chevy Centre and founder of Plant the Planet, personally supervised the planting and caring of these trees until they have matured and can survive on their own.

Dangi tree farm

• Location: Dangi, Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte
• Land area: 9.3 hectares
• Tree species: mahogany, gemilina, narra, and acacia mangium
• Crops produced: corn
• Year started: 1985 (now on its 29th year)

• Location: Alvenda, Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte
• Land area: 9.2 hectares
• Tree species: mahogany, acacia mangium, rattan, bamboo, and benguet pines 
• Crops produced: corn and abaca
• Year started: 2005 (now on its 9th year)

Plant the Planet marked Chevy Centre's 32nd anniversary

Chevy Centre celebrated its 32nd anniversary on October 2, 2007 with the formal launch of its corporate social responsibility program, Plant the Planet. The whole day affair included a tree planting activity in Barangay Alvenda, Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte. The theme of the activity was: 'We care for our planet: Reduce carbon, plant a tree today.' Many stakeholders came to show their support to the program, like employees, customers, civil servants, public officials, non-government organisations, and volunteers. Everybody got a chance to plant a tree and willingly got their hands dirty.
